Our philosophy in action
We believe in planting
seeds of change
The Fern Odessa Foundation is committed to addressing problems that society currently considers intractable. We partner with organizations that work to reduce suffering and encourage wholeness.
The Foundation funds support for vulnerable individuals, mainly in the Kansas City area. However, we have assisted projects in other parts of the U.S. and abroad.
How it began
Our founder, Demi Lloyd, is an entrepreneur and proud Kansas City native determined to help increase the availability of resources for those struggling. A substantial portion of the Foundation’s funds come from her mother, Pat Lloyd. Pat was a vibrant and gracious Kansas City philanthropist who left a profoundly positive impact on countless individuals. Inspired by her mother’s generosity and compelled by the severity of the societal issues in her community and beyond, Demi is working to — in the words of Bono — “tear a little corner off the darkness.”
The Foundation is named after the Fern Odessa trail in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park, an undulating and peaceful journey through a diverse landscape of gorges, lakes and waterfalls. Like the trail it is named after, the Fern Odessa Foundation seeks to restore and uplift.
